We’ve recently uncovered a special Morris Mini Traveller Automatic, a car with a story rich in passion and history, dating back to the Innocenti era.

This Mini was inherited by Maria from her grandfather, who was a key figure at the Innocenti factory in Milan. The family’s love for these classic cars was deeply rooted, and it was passed down to Maria’s father, Dario, who continued the tradition alongside his career as an architect.

As an architect, Dario was known for his meticulous attention to detail, integrating natural materials into his designs for public buildings like hospitals, libraries, and theaters in and around Treviso. This same craftsmanship was evident when he restored this Morris Mini Traveller Automatic.

Dario purchased the Traveller in Grosseto, Tuscany, at a time when it needed significant repairs. About 20 years ago, he embarked on a careful restoration, personally refinishing the wooden exterior. However, it’s the interior that truly amazed us. The entire cabin is upholstered in genuine Italian red leather, complemented by luxurious red carpeting and exquisite woodwork. The rear boot, the back of the rear bench, the dashboard, and the trim around the rear windows are all hand-finished in lacquered wood, creating the appearance of a factory-quality finish. This is truly a one-of-a-kind Mini.

Dario was also the proud owner of a Morris Mini Cooper S MK2, which he used for rallying, even winning the Dolomiti Rally a few years ago. The Traveller, however, was cherished for family trips and leisurely drives around the area.
